Some of you might have known that I've particpated in the school's IT society as a CCA (Co-curricular activity) and I was quite a lazy bum or a "slacker" during most lessons. Our team just did some podcasts whereby my partner and I wrote about something related to the environment. It was fun "playing" with the built-in microphone in the iMacs and editing it using GarageBand.
Besides podcast, we were also taught C++ programming and I would say it's so boring and difficult to remember those lengthy codes. I'm actually good in Math but the irony is that most people says that when one understands some basic algorithms, he or she will be able to program stuff with ease. Unfortunately, I'm not! However, I managed to design a simple currency converter in the end using the free C++ complier.
At least this year's programme is an interesting and enjoyable one. That's got to be many kids or teenagers ambitions - to create games. Although I dislike playing games which I find them nothing productive, but at least I would love making one. For the other group of my CCA team, they are those hardcore programmers who takes up a programming course that teaches them more about C programming and Java programming.
Oh yes! I was once a "slacker" during IT lessons at school but I've decided to turn over a new leaf to make my IT learning experience a fruitful one! LOL!
Since my interest is either blogging or web designing, I do hope that my CCA teachers will consider my suggestion. For your information, my school - Maris Stella High School, focuses on technology a lot on technology as compared to other schools. The teachers and students (only for secondary one & two) have a MacBook each as a teaching and studying tool. The computer labs are equipped with eMacs and iMacs with the latest Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac, Photoshop CS2 and Flash Professional 8.
I've heard from teachers saying that my school will be implementing a new IT curriculum course using Google SketchUp to design 3-Dimensional models.
In less than 2 weeks, I'll be back to school and starting a new study year. Actually, I'm quite reluctant to go to back to school and I would have to study for long hours and do homework. However, that's not the main reason. It's because I would be cutting down my blogging hours which is quite disappointing. I would rather blog than study even though blogging professionally seems much tougher to my peers.
To build a successful blog, one must have a high level of energy and motivation or else it would be a failure. Fortunately, I have both of these. To get lots of energy and motivation, one must have the interest and an idol in mind.
This blog is getting quieter as I'm so busy writing out articles on my tech blog. But don't worry. I'll try to find time to post updates here.
My Mum will be heading to Taiwan again today to meet my Dad who has been there for a month or so for a business trip. Both my brother and I will be at home with my grandmother.
I've started this personal blog on Nov 06 2008. Guess what?! My monthly visitors hit an amazing 917 even though I didn't do much to build the traffic!
Here are my blogging stats for November:
- Monthly visitors: 917
- Monthly pageview: 1,290
- Twitter Followers: 8784 (Oct: 3,598)
As I'm quite busy in writing articles for my tech blog, I don't have much time left to write about my thoughts and stuff like that in XavThoughts. But don't worry, I will find some time to do that.
I've just received a letter from Google Adsense few days ago regarding the pin code required to confirm my address. Since it's my first month I've started using Google Adsense, I've not earned that much but at least it's way more than Bidvertiser (at least 20 times)! I'm also quite elated to receive emails from many potential advertisers.
One more month left to schooling and I'm still quite reluctant. I've bought new textbooks and uniforms last Friday and I've not even 'touched' any of them. But at least I'm well ahead of my peers as for next year's Math topics, I've already learned them all in early this year in my tuition class, so it's like I'm 1 year ahead of most of the students in my level. Hooray!
I'll not talk much today as I've said earlier that I'm a very busy person even during the school holidays. By the way, I'll be anticipating this Friday's bbq with my friends.
Hey guys and gals, I'm finally back from a 7-day holiday trip to Taiwan. This trip is extremely tiring - siting in the tour bus for hours non-stop, driving around the Taiwan island. I managed to take an elevator ride to the observatory tower of the majestic Taipei 101. I was pretty amazed by the extraordinary speed of the elevator. It is said that it travels at a speed of 1,001 meters per second which means that we reached the 89th storey of the tower in just 37 seconds!
I will not talk more about my trip because I've already forgotten most of it. By the way, below are some cool photos taken in Taiwan. Enjoy!

As I'm very busy blogging at my blog - Kid Tech Guru these few days, I don't have much time left to update my personal blog. By the way, below is a video which I've created 2 weeks ago using Windows Movie Maker. Do take a look if you haven't viewed it before...
This year-end school holiday is really very long - over 70 days of fun and leisure! For some people, it is known as the 'slacking period', but for me I'm not. I blog and read about technology stuff online for hours a day (that's much tougher than studying LOL)
As my 11-year-old brother will be heading to Xi'an, China for his school immersion trip, my father will be bringing the rest of us to Taiwan for a 7-day holiday trip. I will leaving Singapore on 17th Nov and reaching home on 23th Nov. But do you think I'm excited? Well, the answer is NO!!! This is because I will be offline for a week and hence my blog traffic will definitely fall tremendously!
Currently, my blog's traffic hovers at around 1K/day, but when I'm not glued to the computer screen, I think it will fall to a rate of only 500 visitors. With a decreasing amount of readers, my adsense earning will also drop. But I've no choice, because I can't stay alone at home.
